One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash in Pouch Cove late Saturday night.
Two cars collided on the main highway just before 1:00 Sunday morning, leaving a man dead and several other people injured. The RNC, Pouch Cove Volunteer Fire Department and paramedics rushed to the scene, closing the highway for several hours. The two vehicles were not removed until just after daybreak.
Neighbours in the area say one vehicle landed in the ditch on its roof while the other remained upright and on the road but in a perpendicular position. They also say that four females were in one vehicle. One person on the scene saw a male being taken off in a stretcher.
The orange police markings on the shoulder are easily visible. The accident occurred on a straight stretch of highway, not far from the serene setting of Shoe Cove Pond, a picnic park.
