A man accused of gunning down another on Craigmillar Avenue one year ago returns to court this morning.
44-year-old Kurt Churchill has been in custody at Her Majesty’s Penitentiary for almost two weeks following his arrest in Toronto and return to this province in connection with the fatal shooting of 47-year-old Jamie Cody.
The case is being called this morning for election and plea, but Churchill’s lawyer, Robby Ash, has already indicated very little in the way of disclosure has been received thus far from the police and Crown.
Ash has also said his client is very eager to be released on bail.
That application for interim judicial release is set down for later this month in Supreme Court.
Churchill has been charged with second-degree murder as well as several related firearms offences.
