A pilot program has been launched in central Newfoundland to offer gymnastics classes to children with Autism and other exceptionalities.
The program is being put off by Perfectly Centered Gymnastics in Grand Falls-Windsor.
Program manager Ashley Crewe says the program started last week and they hope to do at least two more sessions before Christmas.
She says the hope is for more regular classes to be offered in the new year, noting that the pilot sessions help them understand what the needs of the children would be.
According to Crewe, the program has been a hit thus far, with parents praising different aspects.
She says parents really enjoyed interacting with others in similar situations and having the program in an enclosed space where they didn’t have to worry about their kids hurting themselves.
