The provincial PC Party is raising questions around paving allocations after an access to information request revealed a 300 per cent increase in the Transportation Minister’s district in one year.
Opposition critic for transportation and infrastructure, Barry Petten, says the request revealed an increase from $1.5-million to $4.8-million in a single year in minister Elvis Loveless’ district.
Petten calls the increase “troubling,” and points to similar increases over a three year period under former minister Steve Crocker. They allege that he “played favourites” with which districts got attention, and that Loveless is following suit.
Petten says such favouritism comes at the cost of other roads that need attention, saying that the Liberals have done nothing to take the politics out of paving.
