A new pharmacy in St. John’s is offering rapid COVID testing for travellers.

SRX Pharmacy is making rapid antigen and rapid PCR testing for those travelling who have no symptoms and are fully vaccinated.

The rapid antigen test is around $69 dollars per test, and the PCR is around $150. Results of the tests are available in about 15 minutes.

Cindy Maloney, a pharmacist at SRX, says if pharmacists were able to bill MCP for certain procedures, they would be able to do a lot more.

She says pharmacists in many ways know their patients better than doctors in many ways. She calls it a “two-tiered system” once the pharmacy gets involved, as some can afford to pay their pharmacist for basic diagnosis, but many others are forced to find a doctor due to the cost.

Walk-ins are accepted, however, the pharmacy prefers individuals make an appointment by visiting their website or by phone at 753-3858.
