Two musicians originally from Brazil are making waves in the local music scene.
Ana Luísa Ramos and Eric Taylor Escudero moved to Newfoundland and Labrador two years ago, and have been bringing their unique combination of folk, bossa nova, and Brazilian pop music to the island.
Ana & Eric are nominated for three MusicNL awards as a duo: Group of the Year, Global Group of the Year and Rising Star of the Year, as well as two award nominations each for their individual work.

They say people have always been very welcoming of different cultures and music in different languages, as much of theirs is in Portuguese.
They said breaking into the Newfoundland market was a positive experience.
Ramos calls music the universal language that can break down barriers. She says people in the province just enjoy music, regardless of the language.
The group is recording a new album to be released next year.
