There will soon be an app for cancer patients having difficulty sleeping.
Memorial University’s Sleep, Health and Wellness Lab has been busy conducting research on the health impacts of sleep and helping people struggling with sleep. Dr. Shiela Garland, associate professor of psychology and oncology, has been working with cancer patients who often encounter difficulties with sleep.
They provide telehealth or video-delivered cognitive behaviour therapy for insomnia to patients who completed their treatment by at least six months, or whose cancer is considered stable.
They’re also working on increasing access to cognitive therapy by creating a new app for patients suffering insomnia.
