A major anniversary is being marked this week in the province.
On December 6th, 1971, the Churchill Falls Hydro Generating Station went live, delivering power to millions of homes to the province and beyond.
Churchill Falls has a generating capacity of just over 5,400 megawatts, and is one of the largest underground hydro facilities in the world according to Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro.
It was the largest civil engineering project in North America at the time of its construction in 1967, employing some 6300 people.
