The Better Business Bureau is warning shoppers about where they purchase those “must have” holiday toys after numerous people reported falling victim to a company claiming to be based in the Woodgate Plaza on Kenmount Road.
The BBB has received numerous reports of a fraudulent online toy website that advertises some of the most sought after toys for the 2021 holiday season. Some consumers have reported losing hundreds of dollars to Pine Toys Canada Services, leaving them out of pocket, and with no gifts for under the tree.
According to the BBB, the company advertises steep discounts on popular items, but once the items are ordered from the website, the company is unreachable, and the items are never delivered.
Pine Toys Canada Services claims to be located in the Woodgate Plaza in St. John’s, but the BBB was unable to get in contact with the business despite multiple attempts to contact them via mail, email and phone calls. The property management company for Woodgate Plaza confirmed that Pine Toys is not located there nor has it ever been.
The BBB is directing consumers to their Scam Tracker to see if a business their dealing with is a scam.
