The metro region got about 17 cm of snow yesterday and last night, tempered by rain and drizzle in the afternoon. Those northerly winds peaked at about 110 km/h at the airport last night and overnight, and reached 125 km/h in the Bonavista area.
Meteorologist Dale Foote says all area of the island got some snow but eastern Newfoundland got walloped.
Gander got 40 cm and Terra Nova National Park 44 cm.
Temperatures remain below freezing today but things warm up on the weekend with rain coming on Sunday.
