Canada Post is working on a permanent solution to install community mailboxes in Spaniard’s Bay, but in the meantime, the Harbour Grace Post Office is extending its hours.

To accommodate for the volume of customers, the post office will be open this weekend from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and staff has doubled

Canada Post says the process to provide mail service in Spaniard’s Bay is complex, as identifying secure locations that are convenient for customers will take some time.

They say they are hoping to speed up the process as they speak with local government and obtain the required equipment.
