‘Tis the season for giving and special donations to local charities continues.
UA Local 740, which represents pipe trades members, made a major donation to the Gathering Place to help with Christmas meals. The donation is valued at $10,000 dollars.
Meanwhile, Trades NL has donated a total of $2500 dollars, split between a variety of local charities. President Tom Woodford says they wanted to do something different this year so they invited speakers invited to their annual conference to pick a charity of choice to which $100 dollars would be donated.
The charities chosen include First Light, Bridges to Hope, the Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation, the St. John’s Women’s Centre, Ronald McDonald House, Choices for Youth and the Canadian Mental Health Association among others.
