Music NL is pleased with the extension of COVID shutdown relief packages provided by the federal government.
Ottawa this week announced a 50 per cent relief subsidy for proven cancelled work up to a maximum of $500 dollars.
Musicians, bars and lounges immediately had their revenue cut off with the move to Alert Level 3 this week.
Executive Director of Music NL, Rhonda Tulk Lane says a quick tally of members shows the loss of income over the holiday period alone is significant.
She says without even doing a “deep dive” into the actual losses, they tallied about $50,000 dollars in lost wages for working musicians.
