Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador is among the many industry groups relieved by the expansion of COVID assistance programs.
Ottawa announced last week that its Lockdown Support Program will see the bar for income loss lowered to 25 per cent from 40 per cent, and apply for losses over the current month rather than the last 12 months.
The change will be in place until February 12.
The Lockdown Support Program also applies when capacity restrictions are 50 per cent or more, not just when the business is closed entirely. As a result, Hospitality NL says a significant number of its members will be able to apply for benefits and get through pandemic restrictions.
