RCMP in Harbour Grace is warning the public of a dangerous supply of narcotics that is circulating in the area.
They say officers responded to three reports of drug overdoses this past week, administering Narcan in two of these cases. One person has died of a suspected overdose. The official cause of death remains under investigation with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Police say a reddish-brown coloured substance, being sold as morphine or heroin, was present during two of the incidents in question.
The public is reminded to call 8-1-1 to find the nearest location for a free naloxone kit.
