The province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health is reflecting upon some of the biggest COVID challenges faced this year and the learning opportunities they presented.
Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says that when looking back on 2021, one of the big challenges that sticks out in her mind is the outbreak which caused the province to revert back to Alert Level 5 last February.
She says that timeframe sticks out for a number of reasons, and was a big learning experience for Public Health.
She says they learned that quick and stringent lockdowns can help get the province out of that situation quickly, which is something they employed with subsequent outbreaks.
