A significant number of healthcare workers are in isolation due to a potential COVID-19 exposure at a unit at the Health Sciences Centre.
On Tuesday night, Eastern Health announced that visitation has been temporarily suspended on Unit 5 South B, and that contact tracing had been completed for all inpatients and was ongoing for employees.
Health Minister John Haggie says the restrictions have been put in place to safeguard patients, visitors and staff.
Haggie says they have incomplete data as to just how many workers are isolating in the province right now as the system used to collect that data is still offline following the cyber attack.
But, he gives what he says is a low estimate of 487 healthcare workers currently in isolation.
Booster Shots
Meanwhile, residents having trouble booking their COVID-19 booster shot should not be “vaccine shopping” for the Pfizer vaccine, according to the Health Minister.
Pfizer doses are being reserved for residents in the 18-29 age group.
Minister John Haggie says the booster is a half dose and Moderna provides that dosage level.
Today's COVID briefing begins. Premier Furey says they hope to have 65,000 boosters administered by the end of the day today. @VOCMNEWS
