Eastern Health has suspended all in-person visits at its facilities, except for some exceptional circumstances.
Effective immediately, all in person visits to inpatients in a hospital setting, long term care, personal care, community care homes, and assisted living facilities are suspended until further notice.
In certain situations, one designated support person or caregiver can be allowed. Anyone wishing to pursue that option is asked to talk to the patient’s care team.
Exceptions are in place for pediatric patients, who can have both parents as support persons, labour and delivery patients, who can have one support person, and palliative/end of life care.
Out-patients and emergency room patients are asked to carefully consider the need of having a support person with them. Patients who can safely manage themselves during their visit are asked not to bring a support person with them.
