A man accused of a murder in the west end of St. John’s last year briefly returned to provincial court this morning—albeit virtually.
27-year-old Sheldon Hibbs appeared by videoconference from Her Majesty’s Penitentiary, where he remains in custody.
Hibbs was picked up in early March, without incident, by police in Calgary following a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest. He was then escorted back to St. John’s to answer to a single charge of second-degree murder in the death of 68-year-old Michael King.
King’s body was found on a trail between the Waterford Hospital and Topsail Road on May 30 of last year.
According to the RNC: "There is a link between the individuals. However, it is believed to be an isolated incident." @VOCMNEWS

Police have said there is a link between Hibbs and King, but it’s believed to be an isolated incident.
Today, Hibbs expressed interest in a bail hearing. But that won’t happen before his next court date on May 12.
