It was a busy night for the RNC in the metro region.
At around 10:30 on Saturday night, officers responded to an assault involving a weapon outside of a Water Street hotel.
Two people were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.
Criminal Investigation officers, Forensic Identification Services, as well as Police Dog Services were called in to assist.
The investigation continues.
A short time later, around midnight, police were called to a home in the city centre following a report of a disturbance.
The suspect had fled the scene on foot prior to the arrival of police.
Police Dog Services were called in, locating the 31-year-old man a short time later.
He was arrested and charged with one count of common assault and four breaches of a release order.
The man was held to appear in court.
