A mother is heaping praise onto a local restaurant for their treatment of her daughter, who has sensory issues.
Krista Legge says her daughter, Olivia, has sensory issues and restaurants are settings that can be triggering for her.
She explains that lately they have been trying to choose family-friendly businesses to get their daughter used to them, and decided to try East Side Mario’s in St. John’s.
She says they got to the restaurant and it was loud, and she reassured Olivia about the situation and sat in an area closer to the door in case they needed to leave.
Legge says the restaurant was very accommodating, specifically mentioning their server Briana, and another worker named Jordan.
She says they accommodated the girl’s special drink request, and when Olivia mentioned that the music was too loud the employees turned the music off for her.
Legge praises the restaurant’s response and the workers who went above and beyond for her daughter.
She says it’s not always easy for people with sensory issues to know that a situation is going to be okay because their anxiety is always on bust waiting for the next thing to happen. She calls what the workers did really heartwarming.
