The RNC has released a timeline related to a shooting incident in the Goulds Sunday evening that sent a 21-year-old man to hospital with serious injuries.
20-year-old Brandon Chafe, who was recently released on bail on similar charges stemming from incidents of gun violence in the capital city has agreed to remand pending his next court appearance on a list of new charges including aggravated assault, pointing a firearm, unlawfully discharging a firearm, and breaches of previous release conditions.
He consented to remain in custody until his next court appearance on July 4th.
Police responded last night around 7:50 to a report of a disturbance involving firearms in the area of Pipeline Road and Robert E Howlett Memorial Drive, just south of Doyle’s Road.
Police located the injured man who was taken to hospital for treatment.
Investigators with the RNC determined that other people involved in the incident had already left the scene, and patrol officers located a suspect shortly after 10:00 p.m. on Forest Road near Petty Harbour Road in the Goulds.
Police are calling the shooting a targeted attack, linked to a recent string of firearms-related offences in the metro area. Police are seeking witnesses or video footage from certain areas and at certain times on Sunday, June 19th.
They include the Bidgood’s Plaza between 6:45 and 7:45 p.m., and Pipeline Road and Robert E Howlett Memorial between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. Police are also looking for possible witnesses or video of a white sedan or Jeep driving north from the crime scene on Robert E Howlett, and witnesses or video of a man wearing grey pants and a black shirt on foot in the area of the Goulds between Pipeline Road and Forest Pond off Petty Harbour Raod.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the RNC or Crimestoppers.
