Sick children and their families at the Ronald McDonald House will soon have a new recreational space to enjoy at their home away from home.
Construction has officially begun on an outdoor gathering space that will include an accessible play area, garden, and patio with space for barbecuing.
The space will be known as the Family Time Park which will allow for immunocompromised children to safely enjoy activities with their family.
Christina Morgan, Director of Development for the Ronald McDonald House, hopes the facility will provide a sense of normalcy to sick kids and their families.
Morgan says it is more important now than ever to have an outdoor space for immunocompromised children as the pandemic has limited the number of activities that are safe for families with sick kids.
Morgan says the park is expected to be completed by fall.
