The provincial government has given the environmental green light to the replacement of the Shoal Harbour Causeway Bridge in Clarenville.
Replacement of the span has been a long time in the making.
The causeway bridge was deemed unsafe for traffic and was shut down back in 2018 but was later reopened to single lane traffic with weight restrictions
The town is proposing to demolish the existing structure at Balboa Drive which dates to 1963, and build a new bridge at the site.
The nearly $4 million replacement project is being cost shared between the federal and provincial governments and the town of Clarenville.
