A 34-year-old Marysvale man was arrested in Clarke’s Beach and is facing a long list of charges after a dramatic crash and foot chase Monday afternoon.
Bay Roberts RCMP received calls from several drivers who reported an SUV pulling out and speeding past several vehicles before the car lost control and crashed into a concrete construction barrier.
The occupants of the SUV fled the scene on foot.

RCMP Police Service Dog Kaos tracked the driver through yards and gardens, and located Mark Bartlett hiding in bushes near the playground.
The dog also located a discarded backpack which contained cash, suspected cocaine, prescription pills and cell phones.
The vehicle was seized and is being held as part of the investigation.
Police are looking for any witnesses or surveillance footage leading up to the crash of the 2010 gold-coloured four-door Subaru Outback.
Mark Bartlett is facing charges of:
- Dangerous operation of motor vehicle
- Prohibited operation of a motor vehicle
- Obstructing a police officer
- Possession of a controlled substance
- Failing to comply with conditions of a court release order
