People are once again being reminded not to feed the foxes after Conservation Officers responded to reports of foxes that have become accustomed to human interaction in Port aux Basques and on Fogo Island.
The Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Wildlife says feeding foxes or other wildlife can make them dependent on humans for food and creates a public safety hazard.
It could even result in the animals having to be euthanized.
The department says wild animals can be dangerous and unpredictable and may carry transmissible diseases that can be a health threat to people and pets.
Officials say while the instinct to feed or assist wild animals may be hard to resist, they should be left undisturbed in their natural habitat.
