RCMP are looking for the public’s help in locating a man captured on surveillance footage who is believed to have been involved in a theft from Home Hardware in Bay Roberts Monday afternoon.
The man is described as about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and with a stocky build. He has a tattoo on his neck, and was wearing a black hooded winter jacket, blue jeans, red sneakers and a black ball cap.
He is was with a woman who, together, left the store without paying for a number of items.
RCMP say the pair left the scene of the Home Hardware theft in an SUV.
Two hours later Harbour Grace RCMP received a report of a theft from Dominion in Carbonear, where a woman left the store without paying for a number of items. She left the area in a vehicle matching the description of the one linked to the Home Hardware theft.
Police say the same vehicle was stopped on Powell Drive in Carbonear and a woman was found inside in possession of a wig which was believed to have been used as a disguise during both thefts. RCMP allege the woman also provided a false name to police. It was later learned that the woman had an outstanding RNC arrest warrant from the St. John’s area.
RCMP recovered a number of items reported stolen from the Dominion and Home Hardware inside the vehicle. 36-year-old Megan Jordan was arrested and charged with two counts of theft under $5000 dollars, two counts of disguise with intent, identity fraud and obstructing a police officer.
