A long time in the charitable sector is taking over as executive director at VOCM Cares Foundation.

Sonya Smith, former executive director of the Single Parent Association, takes on the role as of today.

Smith has worked with various charities in the province for nearly 25 years, she says this new role allows her to work with all charitable causes in Newfoundland and Labrador.

She’s no stranger to working alongside VOCM Cares Foundation throughout the years, partnering with the foundation for campaigns such as Coats for Kids and Block the Bus through SPANL.

Smith hopes to expand on previous work done by the VOCM Cares Foundation.

“I see VOCM Cares continuing the wonderful work it has done,” says Smith. She plans on getting out in the community to help raise money for different organizations and to share those experiences with donors and listeners through VOCM.
