A Labradorian makes his debut tonight on Jeopardy!, one of North America’s most popular game shows.
John Groves grew up and went to school in Forteau, Labrador but is now living in Hamilton, Ontario where he practices law.
Groves calls the experience “exciting and sort of surreal.”
He says what many people might not know, is that the sets of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! which air back-to-back, are next to each other. He and his fellow contestants had to wait on the Wheel of Fortune set before being called onto the Jeopardy! set for filming.
While he has a broad range of general knowledge he did have to do a little studying on certain topics he suspected might come up. Groves says it was his family who gave him the idea of trying out for Jeopardy!.
Groves says he always enjoyed the show, but never considered himself a “super hard-core fan.” It was while visiting home a few years ago that he started to get into it again because his mom and his grandmother had it on every night.
He won’t say how he did, so if you want to find out, you’ll have to tune in tonight.
