A 31-year-old man from Natuashish is facing a list of serious charges in relation to a number of violent offences in the community this week.
RCMP were called to a home in Natuashish around 6:30 Tuesday morning. Police say the accused, identified as Ben Rich, had been at the property, had a weapon when he assaulted a man, then left the scene. The victim suffered minor injuries as a result.
Police say Rich then forced his way into another home and refused to leave. Negotiations with the accused were not successful and when officers entered the home, they were confronted by Rich who was allegedly holding a weapon in his hand. He was eventually taken into custody.
Rich is facing charges of assault with a weapon, two counts of assaulting a police officer with a weapon, damage to property, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, performing an indecent act, uttering threats, and resisting arrest.
