A long-awaited update on the future of the St. Lawrence fluorspar mine is coming today.

The sale of the mining operation was approved by the courts last week and was expected to be finalized on Friday. The mine had employed some 300 people when it closed in February of 2022.

There were hopes that a new buyer was found last year, but that sale failed to materialize.

Industry Minister Andrew Parsons will be in St. Lawrence for a news conference at the St. Lawrence town hall.

Parsons will be joined by area MHA Paul Pike for the announcement at noon. VOCM News will have details as they become available.
