RCMP have found no connection between a homicide in Harbour Grace in April, and the recent dismantling of a synthetic firearms manufacturing and trafficking operation in the town.
Yesterday, District Commander of the Trinity-Conception RCMP, Ken Maher, outlined the investigation that lead to a significant seizure of firearms including 3D printed ones, and weapons. A man and a woman have been charged.
It is the second instance of major criminal activity in the area in the last number of months.
In April, police found the remains of Adam Mercer in a burned-out truck in the town. They have multiple suspects, but no arrests have yet been made.
Maher says they have looked for possible links between the two cases, but no connections have been made.
He assures that the RCMP and their partners will continue their efforts to combat crime. He encourages people with information that could assist to contact them.
