Bans on open fires in the outdoors in metro are now being lifted.
The St. John’s Regional Fire Department, which imposed the restrictions last Friday, lifted them today. Open fires are permitted, however people should check with their municipality to see if a permit is required. St. John’s Regional covers the capital city, Mount Pearl and Paradise.
As well, the Town of Portugal Cove-St. Philips Fire Department has lifted its ban. Residents are now permitted to use backyard firepits, chimeneas and charcoal BBQs and have open fires.
