The company behind a Nordic Spa development says they have found a new location after St. John’s City Council voted against the original proposal on Blackhead Road.

On Monday, council voted 2-4 against the development of Iceavik Nordic Spa & Village at 1274 Blackhead Road.

The decision comes following months of complaints from area residents, petitions, and public consultation.

The main concerns among residents against the day spa included area commercialization, increased fire risks, and worries that the spa may use up too much water in an area where low water pressure has been an issue.

Despite being turned down at the original location, the company says they’ve already found a new space.

They say more details will be available in the near future. The new location will again be subject to city approval.
