A brand new storyboard has been unveiled at the Carbonear Island Lookout honouring the young girl who gave it its name.
Back in 1998, Brenda Lewis was named the winner of a school contest to name the lookout in celebration of the town’s 50th anniversary.
A few years later in 2003, Lewis, who was then just 14 years old, was diagnosed with cancer.
She passed away three years later, but her contribution and impact on the community has never been forgotten.

Her brother, Roger Lewis, who was at the unveiling of the storyboard, reflects on what his sister would think.
Lewis says his sister was looking down “beaming with pride” knowing that everyone is still remembering her.
