The province’s Teachers’ Union is pleased to see the English School District hiring new teachers earlier in the season.
The NLTA has raised concerns about recruitment and retention when new teachers are hired close to the start of the school year.
President Trent Langdon says he’s pleased that the English School District appears to be putting their advice into practice.
He says if a teacher knows in advance what they’re going to be teaching, what grade level they’re teaching and, in some cases what school they’ll be teaching in, it makes “a big difference as to what job you’re walking into versus the week before or even the day before.”
