Hurricane Lee is weakening and will be a post-tropical storm by the time it reaches the Bay of Fundy in the Maritimes this Saturday.
The Canadian Hurricane Centre has issued a number of watches and warnings for parts of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia with the greatest impact expected in southwestern Nova Scotia, including Queens, Shelburne and Yarmouth counties.
Warning Preparedness Meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada, Bob Robichaud says the storm will spread and eventually pass through the Gulf of St. Lawrence affecting western and central Newfoundland and southwestern Labrador.
By that time the storm will have weakened significantly, with gusty winds on the east side and heavy rain to the west.
He says storm surge is expected as well, mostly affecting the east coast of Nova Scotia.
