Writers NL has announced the winners of the 2023 Newfoundland and Labrador Book Awards.
Don McKay took home the poetry award for his book “Lurch”, beating out Andreae Callanan’s “The Debt” and Michael Crummey’s “Passengers”.
Pam Hall and Jerry Evans won the Non-Fiction NL Book Award for the third chapter of their “Towards an Encyclopedia of Local Knowledge”, this one titled “Miawpukek – The Middle River”. The pair won over Kerri Cull with “Rock Paper Sex Volume 2: Trigger Warning” and Daniel Banoub with “Fishing Measures: A Critique of Desk-Bound Reason”.
The 2024 awards will be for the categories of Fiction and Children’s/Young Adult Literature.
