A petition campaign is underway seeking a cumulative impact assessment on the proposed wind and hydrogen project on the Port au Port Peninsula.
Brenda Kitchen of the Southwest Coast Alliance is set up at the Village Shopping Centre in St. John’s collecting signatures seeking a fulsome process to ensure that the environment and local residents are protected from the massive wind energy farm.
Former St. John’s Mayor Dennis O’Keefe is supporting the Southwest Coast Alliance in their concerns about the project, and he says they’re getting lots of support.
They want to ensure that due process is followed and they’re seeking a cumulative impact assessment, a decommissioning fund with money put in place up front by the developer for future clean up, and meaningful consultation with area residents.
