Both runways at St. John’s International Airport were closed for two hours last night after a US Air Force aircraft, which had taken off from YYT, turned around due to a fuel leak.
The C-130 aircraft landed at 12:35 a.m. and both runways were closed while officials attended to the situation.
A number of flights were affected. Air Canada flight 696 turned around and headed back to Halifax for a delayed arrival time, and both flights PB237 and PB230 were cancelled.
Regular operations resumed just before 3:00 a.m. this morning.
