A hunter found himself in a serious predicament on the weekend, but as luck would have it, searchers managed to locate and extract him from a bog in the Colinet area.
RCMP say the man, who was hunting alone without a cell phone, left him home on Saturday morning, but family members called police when he failed to turn up by the end of the day.
The Central Avalon Ground Search and Rescue and RCMP Dog Services were sent out after nightfall to help in the search.
Police Service Dog Marlow picked up the hunter’s scent and tracked it to a boggy area. By that time it was dark and he couldn’t be seen. Searchers sang out to the missing man, and he shouted back.
It turns out the man was stuck waist-deep in the bog and was unable to move. He was rescued by Central Avalon Search and Rescue and reunited with his family.
