And what a 24 hours it was. The “Give Today, Give a Night” Radiothon in support of the One Night Stand Against Cancer campaign has raised $522,000 to help with expenses running Daffodil Place.
The accommodations facility provides a place for cancer patients and family members to stay while in St. John’s for treatment and appointments.
Al Pelley of the Canadian Cancer Society says he has been in the fundraising business for 34 years and he has always said that people in this province are the most generous per capita in the country.
“No matter how difficult the times are in this province—and we’ve gone through some pertly some challenging times over they last few years—Newfoundlanders and Labradorians always find a way to give,” says Pelley.
