A teacher and volleyball coach facing almost 100 sexual violence related charges was back before the courts this morning.
There is already a lengthy list of people who 32-year-old Markus Hicks has been ordered not to contact while he remains in custody in Bishop’s Falls.
This morning, 28 more were added to that list—that’s on top of the 14 people who have accused Hicks outright of deceiving and duping them into sexual encounters at his home in Paradise.
Hicks faces 92 charges in total related to allegations that he used fake online profiles to lure and carry out sex acts with unsuspecting victims.

Specifically, he’s accused of everything from kidnapping to disguising himself with the end goal of having sex with them, mostly young boys and men.
The charges include multiple counts of sexual assault, sexual assault with choking or strangulation, luring children, arranging to commit sexual offences against children and breach of trust related to his position as a teacher.
In court this morning, Hicks’ lawyer said he’s still waiting on some information from the Crown and police, which he’ll then need to review.
The case will be called again in provincial court on December 5.
