The PC shadow minister for Labrador Affairs is sounding the alarm over housing needs on the north coast of Labrador.
Terra Nova MHA Lloyd Parrott says there are a handful of vacant NL Housing units in Nain that have been needing repairs for upwards of ten years.
Parrott says no government has successfully tendered a contract for the renovations given the high costs associated with construction in rural Labrador.
Given the number of people struggling to find adequate housing on the north coast, Parrott says it’s time for the province to bite the bullet.
He says not paying the price to address issues in rural areas only does more harm. Parrott points to intergenerational and mental health issues in Labrador, saying it’s time government does something better for the region.
