A billboard drawing attention to the dangers of long COVID has popped up in the capital city.
The digital sign, erected on Topsail Road, reads “LONG COVID RUINS LIVES, MASK UP” and was put there by the Covid Awareness Group. It’s the first of its kind in Canada according to the group, with others in the UK.
Keith Muise, a member of the group and resident of Stephenville, says long COVID is a very real condition that government has not said a lot about.
He says a new Stats Canada report shows that the number of people who have suffered from long-term symptoms of COVID-19 seems to increase dramatically every year, most recently hitting 3.5 million people.
Muise says more billboards will be popping up across Canada and they will continue to push for greater education and protection.
