The estranged husband of Jennifer Hillier-Penney is scheduled to appear in Corner Brook Provincial Court this afternoon, charged in her murder just over seven years after she suddenly disappeared.
Hillier-Penney was last seen at Dean Penney’s home on Husky Drive in St. Anthony on November 30, 2016.
The young mother’s disappearance haunted the community for the better part of a decade, but on Saturday, RCMP announced that a long-anticipated arrest had been made, and charges laid.
Although Hillier-Penney’s remains have not yet been found, police say they had collected enough evidence to charge Penney with her murder. He was arrested Friday afternoon in Deer Lake and made a brief appearance in court via telephone on Saturday.
Penney is scheduled to appear in court this afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
