Two men are awaiting court appearances following separate incidents in St. John’s and Conception Bay South.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) first responded to an early morning single-vehicle crash on Team Gushue Highway just after 5:15 a.m. on Boxing Day.
The driver, a 31-year-old man, was arrested for impaired driving and driving while prohibited. He has been charged and released to appear in court at a later date. The RNC says its Drug Recognition Expert has been consulted, and the impaired driving case remains under investigation.
Meanwhile, shortly after midnight on December 27th, the RNC responded to a disturbance at a home in CBS.
Officers located the 51-year-old suspect driving away from the home and stopped the vehicle. He received a seven-day driving suspension, his vehicle was impounded, and he was charged with assault. The man is being held in St. John’s lockup to await his court appearance.
