The Opposition hopes to see government get rid of some of the red tape when it comes to daycare services this year to help increase access to spaces.
Tony Wakeham points to government’s $10-a-day program. He says without workers and places, that initiative “means nothing.”
He says for people to want to make a career out of early childhood education, the proper compensation needs to be there.
As well, he says there’s a lot of frustration for people who wish to open up daycare centres, but can’t because of the rules and regulations that government has in place.
Wakeham contends that it is not about lowering standards, it is about simplifying processes to make sure things are done correctly.
