The snow has begun to change over to forms of ice and rain in many areas, including metro, as a messy system plays out over much of the island this morning.
Slippery roads and reduced visibility have led to travel advisories on some sections of highway in various areas of the island, but no outright road closures.
Schools and businesses have delayed opening in some areas with updated announcements coming later this morning.
The weather turns cold tonight and overnight with snow squalls and high winds.
Central and coastal Labrador is in for a heavy snowfall today. The north coast also is in the midst of snow and high winds while Labrador West will see lesser amounts of snow.
