Government and a union in the health care sector representing more than 800 allied health professionals are growing further apart as the conciliation process has come to a full stop.
The Association of Allied Health Professionals has walked away from the conciliation process. The union is now focusing its energy on mobilizing the membership and determining the next step.
Gordon Piercey, AAHP President, says they are willing to review future proposals from government, but they are no longer going to sit around and wait. The union is focusing on finalizing its Essential Services Agreement.
AAHP is concerned about wages and is asking for equal pay for work of equal value. Members are also calling on government to create a work environment where they feel valued, respected and heard. Piercey says many of their members are ready to walk away from the system, and from the province.
